About This Project
The homeowner in Innaloo contacted us after their garage door suddenly became difficult to operate, following a loud bang during use. Although the motor was still running, the door could only be lifted manually with significant effort — a common sign of spring failure.
During the inspection, our technician confirmed that the torsion spring system had failed. When springs snap or lose tension, the door loses its counterbalance, making it extremely heavy and placing strain on all supporting components. Additional wear was also identified in the cables and drum system, which had been affected by the sudden loss of tension.
To restore safe and reliable operation, we carried out a full lift system restoration. This included installing a pair of torsion springs (one brown and one white) matched to the door’s specifications, replacing the lift cables, and fitting a new pair of drums to ensure proper alignment and smooth cable tracking. A full door service was also completed to optimise the system and ensure all components were functioning correctly.
Following installation, the door was rebalanced, tensioned, and tested through multiple cycles to confirm smooth, controlled movement and reliable performance.
The result was a fully restored garage door system with balanced lifting, reduced strain on the motor, and safe day-to-day operation.
