About This Project
Red Cross East Victoria Park contacted Slide & Glide Garage Doors regarding a commercial roller door that had become difficult to operate and potentially dangerous. Staff had reported issues with the door’s movement, and concerns were raised regarding safety, reliability, and the suitability of the existing setup for a future motor installation.
Our technician attended the site to carry out a full assessment of the door condition, operational faults, and overall safety of the system. Upon inspection, it was identified that the roller door had come off track and become significantly misaligned, causing uneven operation and placing additional strain on the door components.
We carried out a complete door realignment and full door service, including repositioning the door into its correct operating position, adjusting tension, lubricating all moving mechanisms, and testing the operation to ensure safe functionality. The tracks and alignment were corrected where possible to restore smooth manual operation.
Due to the age and condition of the system, our team also provided operational recommendations to site staff, advising that the door should not be lifted fully to maximum height and should be operated slowly to minimise the risk of future misalignment.
As part of the assessment, we also reviewed the suitability of the door for motorisation. Photos and technical findings were forwarded to our technical team for further review before any recommendations for a new motor system are made.
The completed works restored the door to a safe and functional condition while allowing the client to continue operating the premises without the immediate need for a full door replacement. The project highlighted the importance of ongoing servicing and preventative maintenance for high-use commercial roller doors in retail environments.
